Otoplasty or Earing Pinning is an ear plastic surgery used to reduce the amount that your ears stick out from your head. There are two distinct different causes of protruding ears. At Sugar Land Face and Body our ear plastic surgeon, Dr. Eric Humble will meet with you in consultation to determine the exact cause of your prominent ears.
During your consultation, Dr. Humble will discuss with you your surgical options including incision placement and your recovery process.
The ear pinning surgery:
Ear pinning surgery is performed in a certified surgical center under general anesthesia. The surgery typically takes a couple of hours and patients are sent home the same day. No drains are used. A bulking dressing will be placed around your head like a head band to protect your new ears from injury.
Ear pinning/ otoplasty recovery:
Post otoplasty or ear pinning discomfort is managed with oral pain medication and close follow up will be preformed by Dr. Humble. No sutures typically have to be removed since the sutures will be absorbable.
Patients typically return to school or work a few days after their procedure.
