Large breast in a man or gynecomastia has numerous causes including hormones, drugs – prescription and street drugs, tumors, cirrhosis, thyroid issues, or unknown (idiopathic). If your large breasts are present for one year, or more, the underlying breast tissue becomes fibrous making resolution without surgery very unlikely
Before your breast reduction surgery:
During your consultation, Dr. Humble will discuss with you your surgical options. This includes incision placement, pre operative requirements, and your expected recovery. With your input an appropriate surgical plan will be formulated that is unique to your individual circumstances.
Male breast reduction surgery:
Breast Reduction surgery is performed in a certified surgical center under general anesthesia. The surgery typically takes a couple of hours and patients are sent home the same day. Most of the time, the breast reduction is performed with only liposuction. However, sometimes the extra skin has to be surgically removed.
Male breast reduction recovery:
Post Breast Reduction discomfort is managed with oral pain medication and close follow up will be preformed by Dr. Humble.
Patients typically return to work 1 week after their operation and aerobic exercise can be restarted one month after surgery.
